报告简介:

Children’s early verbal number knowledge is important for their later mathematics achievement. To better understand the cognitive sources of children’s early number knowledge, we included multiple cognitive and linguistic abilities, and used a Bayes factor analytic approach to examine the unique contribution and the relative importance of these abilities to children’s number knowledge. Specifically, we used Bayesian model comparison strategies to identify the model that best fitted the observed data of children’s number knowledge. This model included knowledge of the count list, nonverbal approximate numerical ability, working memory, executive conflict processing, and knowledge of letters and words. Then, by comparing the best model and alternative models, we revealed the relative importance of these abilities. These findings suggest that multiple number-specific, general cognitive, and language abilities are needed for children’s learning of verbal numbers, but the number-specific abilities appear to be more important than general cognitive and linguistic abilities in the learning process. This Bayes factor analytic approach can also be used in other psychological research

牟毅,中山大学心理学系副教授。2014年毕业于美国密苏里大学哥伦比亚校区心理系。2014-2017年在美国伊利诺伊大学香槟校区心理系进行博士后研究员工作。主要研究兴趣是婴幼儿数理逻辑认知发展。
